Osaamistavoitteet

The student is able to
- prepare and deliver business presentations in English
- become aware of different techniques used in presentations
- understand the role cultural aspects play in presentations

Toteutustapa ja opetusmenetelmät

This course implementation (for study group IB/IBU20K) will be carried-out in in-class, classroom lessons. Only 35 students will be taken into this course, into the classroom as per instructions stated by the university president (to ensure proper social distancing). As this course implementation is set for IBU20K students, the study places will be given to students from this study group first. All other students will be taken in, according to their enrollment number, if there are study places still available.

The course includes lectures, in-class practice tasks, and assessed presentations (individual/group). Compulsory attendance required at the assessed presentations. There are no substitute assignments for missed lessons, presentations. All presentations must be presented to complete the course. Students will receive their grades based on their performance during assessed presentations. Compulsory attendance required for all courses (in-class) lessons.

Ajoitus ja läsnäolo

Attendance at the first lecture, all contact lessons, and all assessed presentations is compulsory. There are no substitute assignments for the missed presentations.

Reppu (Moodle) platform. All materials will be provided by the lecturer.

Opiskelijan ajankäyttö ja kuormitus

5 ECTS = 135 hours of student work in total. 60 - 70% in-class lectures, activities, presentations; 30 - 40% (independent, outside-class lessons) planning, preparing, creating, practicing presentations for assessed in-class presentations.

Sisältö

This course provides students with basic presentation and public speaking skills in English. The objective is to learn how to prepare and deliver business presentations and other talks in English.
