Learning outcomes
The student is able to
- comprehend and produce Finnish well enough to cope adequately in daily social interaction situations
- use the basic grammatical structures of Finnish
- cope in oral and written job search situations in their own area of study
Implementation and methods of teaching
The study module is implemented as contact classes. The course includes 4 contact lessons a week and in addition to this the student must do the different kinds of exercises given by the lecturer.
Teaching method: lecture, oral and written exercises and assignments, conversation, studying alone and in a team, spoken exam, written exam
Timing and attendance
Contact classes 4 hours / week
80 % presence required.
Assignment deadlines and details on exam(s) will be given during the course.

Working life cooperation
The study module familiarize students with Finnish Language in working life so it will be helpful for training.
Learning environment
The study module is located mainly in classroom. Surrounding neighborhood and studying online are used when suitable.

Contents
During the study module the student strengthens the learned as well as learns more about the structures and vocabulary of the Finnish Language. Familiarize with the vocabulary related to work and the social situations in working life is considered. Topic examples: telling about job, telling about one´s future plans, use of e-mail at studies, issues of job seeking, one’s own characteristics as employee, topics in the job interview, CV.

Assessment criteria
•attendance and activity of the course (80% presence in contact classes)
•oral and written exercises and assignments
•passing of the spoken exam
•passing of the written exam

The student is able to:
perform individual tasks according to instructions: can communicate in daily social interaction situations, know the necessary basic business vocabulary and apply knowledge of working life in oral and written job search situations, target language communication skills are limited compared to the content of the course.

The student is able to:
perform in typical tasks/situations in different environments can communicate in daily social interaction situations, know the necessary basic business vocabulary and apply knowledge of working life in oral and written job search situations, target language communication skills are good with regard to the content of the course.

work in different roles and in different environments can communicate in daily social interaction situations, know the necessary basic business vocabulary and apply knowledge of working life in oral and written job search situations, target language communication skills are strong with regard to the content of the course.
