Osaamistavoitteet
The student is able to
- understand the main features about the history of the cities
- identify and define different values in urban built environment as well as means to preserve them
- understand important international treaties and national legislation protecting valuable environments as well as the meaning of international organisations in preservation
- present case examples to demonstrate the variability of built heritage and means to preserve it (for example town planning, local participation of civil society, renovation)
Toteutustapa ja opetusmenetelmät
History and preservation of urban areas is carried out as online course. All the lecture slides and recordings will be in Reppu under the name of the course. All the courseworks are presented in Reppu and submitted there.
Ajoitus ja läsnäolo
The course starts officially on Thursday 26th September by Introduction. The lectures take place in Niemi Campus, either Mukkulankatu 19 or Niemenkatu 73, but student´s participation is voluntary. The student can listen the lecture recordings and do the courseworks according the instructions in Reppu. The timetable of lectures and submission of courseworks is included in Reppu.

Material for the course and suitable literature is included in Reppu.
Toteutuksen valinnaiset suoritustavat
The student can do the whole course online. An alternative is that the student participates the lectures according the timetable.

The course contains several visiting lectures by different experts in working life, also international expert.
Uusintamahdollisuudet
The course does not have a separate exam. The course can be evaluated and graded by passing the courseworks in an acceptable way.
Oppimisympäristö
The learning environment is Reppu (Moodle).
Opiskelijan ajankäyttö ja kuormitus
The student needs to reserve 5 x 27 hours for this course - 135 hours. Part of this is reserved for listening the lectures and part of it is individual work with courseworks.

Grade of the course is based on the quality of the courseworks.
