Osaamistavoitteet

The student is able to
- take into account the challenges and possibilities of sustainable development in rural leisure and tourism
- analyse the competitiveness of rural, nature and recreation areas as a source of added value for international customers
- develop leisure, tourism and well-being services in rural environment

Toteutustapa ja opetusmenetelmät

The study unit will consist of three learning assignments executed in groups and/or individually:
1) Study circle in small groups with individual tasks
2) Project assignment in small groups
3) Participation in the SELL Games event on 15-17 May '20
The evaluation will be based on a) knowledge and information retrieval skills, b) practical skills, and c) responsibility and reflection skills. Students work for a commissioned development project that deals with SELL Games event experience from the guest's/audience's perspective. SELL Games is an international student sports event that will be organized in Lahti 15-17 May 2020. In the project they get to design and influence on the customers' experiences in the event and network with companies and other working life representatives in the region.

Ajoitus ja läsnäolo

Active participation in study circles and project work are necessary to accomplish the project and the study unit. The study unit begins on Mon 3 Feb '20 and runs until mid-May '20. The study unit's contacts are placed on every second Monday afternoon from early Feb to mid-May.

Oppimateriaali ja suositeltava kirjallisuus

The learning material will be announced at the beginning of the study unit, incl. books, reports, articles, blogs, videos. Partly, the material will be retrieved by the student.

Työelämäyhteistyö

The study unit is connected to close collaboration with the SELL Games event, https://www.lamk.fi/en/events/sell-games-2020.

Opiskelijan ajankäyttö ja kuormitus

1 ECTS cr. equals 27 h of student's work. Accorddingly, the study unit of 5 ECTS cr. = 133 hours of student's work. A more specific divison of work and emphasis in evaluation will be introduced at the beginning of the study unit.

Sisältö

The study unit belongs to Leisure & Well-being services (15 ECTS) study module. We recommend that the students enroll in all three study units. The study module focuses on synergies in combining tourism, leisure, well-being, nature and culture environment, and technology. On this specific study unit, the students focus on the challenges and possibilities of rural areas in the context of leisure and well-being. The study unit combines the aspects of sustainable development, regional development, competitiveness of rural areas, and digital and omni-channel tourism destination marketing.
