Implementation and methods of teaching

This course is divided into three main topics + few subtopics of them. These topics are:
1. Wastewater management; Operational and structural changes (2 ECTS)
- Management and Optimization
- Maintenance of Activities
- Constructional and Operational Challenges
2. Energy Production in Wastewater Treatment Plants (1,5 ECTS)
- Energy in WWTPs – current trends and future needs
- Energy in WWTPs – current trends and future needs
- Anaerobic Biogas Production
3. Nutrient Removal and Recovery (0,5 ECTS)

The learning is based on the videos done during the international conferences organized by IWAMA-project (IWAMA = improving wastewater management in the Baltic Sea Region) The learning out-comes are tested due to the following quizzes. More information about IWAMA: http://www.iwama.eu/

Additional information for students: previous knowledge etc.

It is recommended to have at least basic knowledge about wastewater treatment technologies. This course also include materi-als for those who does not have pre knowledge about the subject or need recapitulation

Assessment criteria

Final score is based on the average scores of all of the quizzes.
5 (Excellent, total scores 90 % of maximum),
4 (Very Good, total scores 80 - 89 % of maximum),
3 (Good, total scores 70 - 79 % of maximum),
2 (Satisfactory, total scores 60 - 69 % of maximum),
1 (Tolerable, 50 - 59 % of the total scores).
If the student does not meet the minimum criteria set for the course, the grade is 0 (Fail).
