Learning outcomes
The students is able to
- use the terminology of their field and understand professional texts
- discuss topics related with their field
- communicate in job application situations
- present their own project orally and in writing
- write a professional report and a thesis abstract
Implementation and methods of teaching
Spoken and written assignments. Four assignments are graded on a scale of 0-5 (cover letter and job interview, memo, document relevant to your field, oral presentation). Other assignments are pass/fail.
Timing and attendance
Classes are held every other week, with the ability to attend either online (Zoom) or in-person. Assignments have strict deadlines.

The course should be about 81 hours of work. Student's workload consists of attending class, preparing for class, and completing written and oral assignments.

Terminology and concepts related to field of study.
Simulated life at work: expert panel, how to express and defend opinions; oral presentations; writing a document relevant in your field (report or abstract).

This course does not review English grammar. It is expected that the students enrolled in the course have an intermediate-level command of English (CEFR B2).
Assessment criteria
Four assignments are graded on a scale of 0-5 (cover letter and job interview, memo, document relevant to your field, oral presentation / expert panel). Other assignments are pass/fail. Students must attain a passing grade (1 or pass) on at least 80% of assignments to pass the course.
