Learning outcomes

Student is able to
- design evidence based physiotherapy treatment for the neurological adult patient
- delivery customer-oriented, activating and task-oriented physiotherapy and applied physical exercises taking neurological symptoms into account
- take into account human psychophysics in physiotherapy
- use different physiotherapy methods to support and maintain mental health

Implementation and methods of teaching

Part 1: Physiotherapy of neurological adult patient (MS, Parkinson, SCI, Stroke, ALS, Adult-CP)
Part 2: Psychophysical physiotherapy
- psychophysical assessment and excercise practise with own group in skill labs, and with the clients
- conference day for own group
- field visits
- theoretical exam combined to the content of physiotherapy of neurological adult patients
Part 3 : Adapted Physical activities
Brainstorming sessions, teamwork, online lectures, lectures

General
- preparation for lectures and brainstorming sessions

- In teams the students will organize a theme-day in given themes about rehabilitation & physiotherapy on neurological disorders
- In teams the students will lead the physiotherapy session for clients from the mental health field
- In teams the students will organise the conference day and have a presentation
- a case- assignment, report and seminar work
- preparation and leading of exercise groups
- The students are grouped into six teams. Every team conduct once a group of rehabilitee at the swimming pool.

Assessment criteria

- two exams (0-5)
- a practical exam (pass- fail)
- team-task: Preparation and directing of Theme-day (pass-fail)

The student does not participate in activities or performance evaluated.
The precence during contact lessons is less than 80%.
Does not return the duties conferred or not pass the exams

Assessment criteria: level 1 (assessment scale 1–5)

PART 1
- recognize links between the characteristics of different neurological disorders and the customer's symptoms
- describe content of physiotherapy, integrating the principles of active and task-oriented physiotherapy
- theoretical exam: 50% right to pass the exam
- the team-task: is passed on level 3
PART 2
- can analyse human body and movements in psychophysical aspect
- can support bodyimage and body awarness of the patient
- recognice the role of physiotherapist promoting mental wellbeing
PART 3
The student
- can plan, implement and evaluate physical activity for groups
- can instruct and assist adapted physical activity safely

Assessment criteria: level 3 (assessment scale 1–5)

PART 1
-understand the connection between the characteristics of different neurological disorders and the customer's symptoms
- select reliable methods for the functional assessment of rehabilitees
- design physiotherapy and understand it as part of multidisciplinary rehabilitation
- design and implement physiotherapy with a goal-oriented and rehabilitee-oriented approach
- describe the principles of active and task-oriented physiotherapy
- theoretical exam: 70% right to pass the exam
- the team-task: is passed on level 3
PART 2
- can analyse patient´s resources (physical, social, psychological)
- can promoto the enpowering of the patient
- can support the mental wellbeing of the patient
PART 3
The student
- can design, implement and evaluate exercise and adapted physical activity in varied ways
- can instruct and assist adapted physical activity with versatile and active technique

Assessment criteria: level 5 (assessment scale 1–5)

PART 1
- describe the connection between the characteristics of different neurological disorders and the customer's symptoms
- select a range of reliable methods for the functional assessment of rehabilitees
- design physiotherapy as part of multidisciplinary rehabilitation with a goal-oriented and rehabilitee-oriented approach by applying the principles of active and task-oriented physiotherapy
- theoretical exam: 90% right to pass the exam
PART 2
- can support comprehensive wellbeing of the patient in physiotherapy
PART 3
The student
- can design, implement and evaluate exercise and adapted physical activity using analytical and diverse methods
- can instruct and assist adapted physical activity with a creative and proactive approach
