Learning outcomes
The student is able to
- assess the suitability of different process models for assignments
- select the most appropriate process model to use in an assignment
- implement the stages of the chosen process model
Implementation and methods of teaching
Project is related to KISU project which theme is "Longer life and recyclability by circular design"
Learning by doing supported by theory part.
Students are working on a product development project linked to a company
Exam from theory part
Final presentation should include product concept model or a prototype and the process report
Students will practice steering group skills
Timing and attendance
Kick-off, all presentations, and an exam are mandatory.
80% in mandatory contact days, part of the individual work can be done outside the campus but requires reporting to the teacher.
Working life cooperation
linked to a LUAS project and a company is possible.
Excursion to the company if possible.
Exam retakes
Exam 4.11. Retake arranged if needed
Learning environment
Project spaces, workshop spaces, 3d printing if needed.
Contents
The course includes circular design based case related to LUAS project and a company.

- Can use the product development methods in various ways and evaluate the suitability of different process models in his/her work.
- Can choose the most suitable process according to the assignment
- Can carry out the chosen process model according to the related steps and can describe them. Can take into account the needs of the user/project/client.
Assessment criteria: level 5 (assessment scale 1–5)
- Can use product design methods in a professional way and create a functional prototype
- Can choose, combine and develop suitable methods and processes according to own case.
- Can take full responsibility of the entity of the own process and report the process model in a professional way.
