Learning outcomes

The student is able to
- apply the principles of user-centred design in their work
- identify the basic methods of user-centred design
- apply user-centred design processes in assignments
demonstrate a command of the communal design approach and its basic methods

Implementation and methods of teaching

The course opens up a basic starting point for user experience and user-centered design methods through lectures and assignments. Students get to know the subject through an assignment that focuses on housing design.

Lecture and assignments. Read and familiarize yourself with the material in Reppu.

Timing and attendance

Participation in lectures and completion of given exercises.
Minimum 80% attendance in person.

To be announced at the beginning of the course.

Working life cooperation

Students are able to apply basic principles of user-oriented design in their own design work. They can identify basic methods of user-centered design and apply process-oriented design processes to assignments.

Learning environment

The course is held in Niemi Campus and the facilities are on the schedule. The course consists of group work and independent study.
Participation in Habitare and Helsinki Design Week events.
