Learning outcomes

The student is able to
- prepare and deliver business presentations in English
- become aware of different techniques used in presentations
- understand the role cultural aspects play in presentations

Implementation and methods of teaching

Virtual course done through weekly assignments via course Reppu page and online meetings. Weekly reading and learning diary. Preparation, planning, and delivery of speeches and presentations. Online discussions via Adobe Connect.

Timing and attendance

Attendance during contact sessions is compulsory. All course assignments must be finished and delivered on time. No substitute work offered.

Student time use and work load

Individual presentations, speeches, and discussions. Students must check the course dates and reserve time for preparing and practicing presentations, speeches, reading, and discussions.
Approximate student workload: 135 hrs
- Lectures and meetings via AC: 10-12 hours
- Course readings: 50-60 hrs
- Homework and preparation: 60-70 hrs

The student has not delivered given assignments on time or at all. Presentation skills are non-existent and presentations/speeches are very difficult to understand.

Assessment criteria: level 1 (assessment scale 1–5)

Active participation during contact sessions and timely delivery of most assignments. The student is able to give coherent and understandable presentations and speeches in English. The student can draft basic presentation slides or graphics and is able to engage an audience on a basic level.

Assessment criteria: level 3 (assessment scale 1–5)

Active participation during contact sessions and timely delivery of all assignments. The student is able to give coherent, understandable, and informative presentations and speeches in English. The student can draft comprehensive presentation slides or graphics and is able to engage an audience on multiple levels with relative ease. Body language is natural.

Assessment criteria: level 5 (assessment scale 1–5)

Active participation during contact sessions and timely delivery of all assignments. The student is able to give coherent, easily understood, interesting, and very informative presentations and speeches in English. The student can draft outstanding presentation slides or graphics that complement their speeches and is able to engage an audience on multiple levels very easily. Body language is natural and relaxed.
