Learning outcomes

The student is able to
- understand the main features about the history of the cities
- identify and define different values in urban built environment as well as means to preserve them
- understand important international treaties and national legislation protecting valuable environments as well as the meaning of international organisations in preservation
- present case examples to demonstrate the variability of built heritage and means to preserve it (for example town planning, local participation of civil society, renovation)

Assessment criteria: level 1 (assessment scale 1–5)

Student
- is able to collect information of research dealing with preservation of urban areas
- Is able to describe practices of historical preservation in urban environments
- is able to produce a case study concerning preservation and renovation of historically valuable buildings or built areas as well as to mention the roles of different stakeholders in them.

Assessment criteria: level 3 (assessment scale 1–5)

Student
- is able to collect and evaluate international information of research dealing with preservation of urban areas
- Is able to describe and analyse practices of historical preservation in urban environments
- is able to produce a case study or an implementation concerning preservation and renovation of historically valuable buildings or built areas as well as to describe the roles of different stakeholders in them.

Student
- is able to collect and evaluate critically international information of research dealing with preservation of urban areas
- Is able to describe and analyse critically practices of historical preservation in urban environments
- is able to produce a qualified case study or an implementation concerning preservation and renovation of historically valuable buildings or built areas as well as to analyse the roles and impacts of different stakeholders in them.
