Learning outcomes

The student is able to
- recognise the different sources and tools to help them improve their English skills
- gain confidence and manage in written and oral communication situations required in professional studies and in the work life
- describe their education and qualifications
- understand the terminology and concepts of their own field

Implementation and methods of teaching

Active discussions during contact lessons and assignments given. Assignments and activities during the course include:
-An oral presentation given during contact lessons
-Written assignments done independently

-No substitute work. Missing contact lessons may affect the final grade. 80% attendance for full marks.

The estimated workload is 3 x 27 hours, including contact lessons, homework, reading, and course assignments.

Contents

Basic tools for language learning; basic engineering English and skills; education and qualifications; identifying key job skills and managing in job-related situations in English.

Intermediate to upper-intermediate level skills in English (e.g. CEFR B2 / IELTS 6)

Active participation, course assignments, and a live presentation. No substitute assignments.
