Graphic design is the visualisation of messages. Graphic design studies provide students with the knowledge and skills for a variety of tasks in, for example, publication design, advertising, corporate graphics, illustration, electronic communication and type design. The studies take the form of hands-on activities, series of general lectures, and cooperation projects with businesses. International activities are a natural part of the studies.

A graphic designer’s tools can range from a pencil to multimedia software, and their assignments from making a single image to large-scale campaigns and communicative compilations. The development of perception and handicrafts, visual expression, vision, style and aesthetic thought remains important in the education of a graphic designer, in addition to various professional and technical skills.
